About the Book
Bare Essentials Bits—The Book focuses totally on mechanics and grammatical issues that pose challenges for all writers, especially for students, teachers, bloggers, marketing specialists, advertisers, bosses of small and large companies, and budding entrepreneurs. So, to enhance the value of this reference, it is a combination of hard copy print and digital. Its digital section contains podcasts that are accessible via a pass-protected site. Dr. Hayes-Scott has prepared sixteen (16) short podcasts, for which this book is partially-named: Bare Essentials Bits. They are on the designated pass-protected site for easy access and quick review. Because of the many followers of these podcasts on the MarketingNewAuthors.comBlog (MANA BLOG), a clear need for this resource has proven to be of interest to its many followers. So, this book is more than just a 127-page grammar reference book. The podcasts focus on comma splices, run ons, fragments, punctuation usage, especially, comma usage, a comprehensive commonly misspelled word list, and more. These features make this reference work a comprehensive resource tool. Every person who cares about solving the puzzles of grammar, punctuation, and word choice will find this book a valuable asset to one’s hard copy and digital personal library.
About the Author
Dr. Fairy C. Hayes-Scott, is an author of four (4) books and editor of countless more. She is a college professor of literature and composition at Mott Community College (Flint, MI) for over thirty-five years. She has also taught American Sign Language courses and lecture courses focusing on Deafness. She has initiated and taught the only college English composition course exclusively for Deaf students in the state. And reportedly, it was the only one of its kind in the country.
Dr. Hayes-Scott is a consultant and motivational speaker and blogger. She has served as a consultant for an innovative summer six-week academic enrichment program for Detroit Public Schools Deaf students, entitled “Direct Success.” On a part-time basis for Eastern Michigan University, she served as a supervisor of student teachers. And because of her excellence in teaching, based on the recommendation of students and faculty, the Board of Mott Community College has named a room after her. And her blogs have served as a metaphor of a teacher in a classroom (captain over her crew of young officer trainees), helping them hone their skills so that they will be able to take over in their various professional (naval) experiences. Most recently, Dr. Hayes-Scott has launched a different kind of blog that is in a diary format. It, too, has garnered many followers.
In addition to her professional commitment to her students, she owns a traditional/textbook publishing company and a self-publishing/marketing publishing company. Dr. Hayes-Scott has over twenty-five years of publishing experience. The varied occupations and skills of Dr. Fairy (as she is fondly referred to by many of her students and clients) have made her a well-rounded author who implements theory and practice as a college instructor and business woman.
